Obici Healthcare Foundation, in collaboration with the Suffolk Partnership for a Healthy Community, is pleased to announce Healthy People Healthy Suffolk -- a ten-year road map to a more vibrant and healthier lifestyle for all who live, work, play and pray in Suffolk.

Throughout the fall of 2011, the leadership of the Obici Healthcare Foundation and the Suffolk Partnership for a Healthy Community, invited a group of interested citizens, employers, healthcare professionals, school, faith-based and city government representatives to join them in tackling this growing problem.

A Steering Committee emerged which set about envisioning what Suffolk could be like if Suffolk adults, children and families were living active and healthy lives. A larger Planning Committee joined the Steering Committee in the winter of 2011 - 2012. The goal for both groups was to develop a coordinated community plan to improve the health and vitality of residents.

Healthy People / Healthy Suffolk concentrates on these four goals:

  • Promoting healthy eating habits with increased access to healthy foods
  • Creating a walkable and physically active community
  • Engaging and empowering residents to develop healthy neighborhoods and lifestyles
  • Increasing awareness and building community and financial support for active and healthy living

Please visit the Healthy People / Healthy Suffolk website by clicking on the logo at the top of this page. We welcome and encourage your involvement.
